Over a decade ago, Prince Harry created the Invictus Games and he took to the stage in Vancouver in 2025 to welcome the beginning of the nine days of sport. He was introduced by his wife, Meghan Markle, who gave a personal speech about Harry as a human, a husband, and a father.

According to the BBC, Harry addressed his welcome, including nods and references to current political turmoil in the USA. He said, "We gather here in Vancouver in a spirit of unity... Beyond any differences, here at the Invictus Games, we are grounded in mutual respect, competing fiercely, but believing in one another."

Harry and Meghan chatted to athletes and the crowds alike. Here, a child was even presented with a Prince Harry-signed Funko Pop! That's certainly a keeper...

We all know the Duke & Duchess of Sussex are big animal lovers and Harry showed no restraint in ensuring the four-legged friends were also shown the love they deserved...

The previous day, however, at the opening ceremony, the two shared some PDA for the fans. The opening ceremony saw performances from Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, and Katy Perry who performed her inspiring song, 'Roar'.

Needless to say, the opening ceremony was a treat for all who attended. Prince Harry thanked the indigenous communities for allowing them to host the games in Vancouver after chiefs entered the stadium to the beat of drums and holding raised paddles — a traditional sign of welcome for strangers arriving, as The Vancouver Sun tells us.

Hours before the Invictus games began, Donald Trump spoke about Harry and Meghan, saying he would 'leave Harry alone' when referring to his visa. "He's got enough problems with his wife," the president added according to the BBC. "She's terrible." Harry doesn't look too pleased here as she documents the games on her private phone.

The two put on a very unified front, seemingly closer than ever. At this moment, Prince Harry seemed to get a little emotional and was comforted by his wife of 7 years.

Over the nine days, the Duke and Duchess will be doing much more than being spectators. They are often seen with the athletes as well as their friends and Family. On February 8, Meghan read a book at the Family & Friends activity at the Nations Home at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
