The director of the Department of Medical Diagnosis is a brilliant man, but also socially repugnant. He's a misanthrope, arrogant, cynical and sarcastic, both before his patients and his companions. In spite of all that, he is also one of the most beloved characters in the history of television.
Gregory House's character is based on several classic literary characters: from Sherlock Holmes to Cyrano de Bergerac, through Professor Henry Higgins (Pygmalion) or Doctor Perry Cox (Scrubs). His way of diagnosing is not the most appropriate, but it is the most effective. In addition, he is addicted to vicodin which helps control the pain in his leg, caused by a stroke in his right quadriceps.
Hugh Laurie was 45 years old when he started shooting the series. He was soon to become the best paid actor on television: $700,000 per episode. After finishing 'House', he participated in series such as 'The Night Manager,' 'Chance,' and 'Veep.' Laurie is also a successful jazz musician and crypto investor.
This mysterious intern arrived in the fourth season as a new hire by House. He decided to call her 'Thirteen.' Her Huntington's disease, her sexuality, and her relationship with Foreman were subjects for plots over several episodes.
Olivia Wilde was 24 when she first appeared in the series. Despite being a familiar face, 'House' made her a star. After the series, she built a family with actor-comedian Jason Sudeikis. In 2020, they broke things off while Olivia was working on her most daring project so far: 'Don't Worry Darling' (2022).

In the seventh season she begins a relationship with him, which ends with House crashing his car against Cuddy's house.
Lisa Edelstein was 38 years old when she played Lisa Cuddy for the first time. She quit the series in the last season to join 'The Good Wife.' Her latest television incursion, interestingly, was another medical drama: 'The Good Doctor.'
Although House hired her for her beauty, Cameron proved to be an excellent immunologist and lasted six seasons on the show. In some of them, she had a love affair with her boss. With the passage of time, Cameron managed to become Head of Emergency. She also married Robert Chase at the end of the fifth season, but with their divorce soon afterwards, Dr. Cameron ended up leaving the hospital.
Jennifer Morrison was 25 years old when she played her first television leading role. Just like in the series, she was engaged to Jesse Spencer, but they separated right before the wedding. Morisson finally left 'House' to star in 'Once Upon a Time,' where she gave life to Emma Swan from 2011 to 2018.
Dr. Robert Chase is the character that changes the most over the course of the eight seasons. He starts out as an ambitious and arrogant guy, but ends up being kind of a 'mini House,' even going back to his team and becoming the new Head of the Hospital's Medical Diagnosis Department. He is also a real Casanova outside working hours.
Jesse Spencer arrived at 'House M.D.' in 2004, when he was 25. He left in 2012, the year in which he started 'Chicago Fire' as protagonist Matthew Casey. In other words, he has been working in two series for nearly 2 decades.
Dr. Eric Foreman experiences an inferiority complex with House, because he knows that he is better than him, despite not following the rules. As a neurologist he is hired by House for his criminal past. Foreman has a relationship with Thirteen, leaves House and his team, but he ends up coming back. In the last season, he is named director of the hospital after Cuddy's resignation.
Actor, hip-hop singer and musician, Epps was 31 years old when the series began. He lasted for eight seasons. Since 2012, he has joined in other series like 'The Shooter' and 'Resurrection.'
Dr. Taub is a millionaire plastic surgeon who decides to change his life after being blackmailed by his co-workers for cheating on his wife with the nurse. He is the third candidate that House hires in the fourth season. He will be the voice of conscience that House ignores, resulting in various infidelities to his wife.
Peter Jacobson was 43 years old when he played Taubb for the first time, and he already had a great television and film background. Among his latest works are 'Colony', 'The Good Wife' and 'Ray Donovan.'
A doctor of sports and rehabilitation, Kutner arrives in the fourth season to renew House's team. He confesses that as a six-year-old, he witnessed his parents getting killed during a robbery in their store. Dr. Kutner does not make it through the series alive, but he does reappear in the last season as a hallucination of Dr. House.
Kal Penn was 30 years old when he started in the series. He left it because of Barack Obama. The actor made the leap from drama TV to the White House as the associate director of the Office of Government Relations and Affairs. When his political journey ended, he appeared in 'How I met your mother' and 'Designated Survivor.'
The eighth season begins at the New Jersey Prison clinic, where House is confined after crashing into Cuddy's house. After she meets House and gets him out of jail, Dr. Jessica Adams resigns as the prison physician and joins his diagnostic team to continue learning.
This Californian actress was 27 years old during her only season in the series. Since then, her most prominent roles have been in 'Banshee' and 'Supergirl.'
This third-year medical student arrives in the seventh season to replace Thirteen. She has an excellent track record but lacks experience and House won't make it easy for her. In spite of everything, she strives to get a position on the team. Interestingly, when House offers it, she rejects it.
Amber Tamblyn was 28 years old when she joined the seventh season of the series. She left at the end of it. Her career has been more about film than television, but you may remember her as the daughter of the late Charlie Harper in the sitcom 'Two and a Half Men.'
