The mystery of Zac Efron's Ibiza 'swimming incident' - precautionary hospital stay?
In early August, Zac Efron was on the Spanish island of Ibiza when he had a "small swimming incident," TMZ reported.
The 36-year-old actor was admitted to a hospital in Ibiza, leading to several concerning newsflashes and speculations.
When TMZ noted that two employees of the villa where he was staying had to pull Zac Efron out of the water, the incident appeared to be very serious.
After receiving medical attention in the local clinic, doctors decided that it was best for the star to go to a nearby Ibizan hospital and do more tests. Zac Efron ended up spending the night at that hospital.
Much information about the incident was not revealed. "He is fine," Efron's representative told TMZ. They did not give any further details about what happened or how the former Disney star was doing at that time.
It was also worrying that Zac Efron did not share anything on social media. Usually, he is a very active guy on all his social media accounts.
We had to wait a few days to find out that, at least, Zac Efron was "happy and healthy." The actor shared a photo on his Instagram Stories so that his 61+ million followers knew that he was safe and that it all had been a scare.

In the Story, he appeared in a swimsuit, without a shirt, and exercising. Clearly, the actor wanted to show that he was in good health. However, as he did not disclose what the hospital visit was about, speculation continued.
Since the incident, several media have indicated that the hospital stay was, as a representative confirmed, a "precautionary measure". Zac Efron had a serious injury on his face a few years ago and any shock to his head may therefore have to be double-checked.

As he explained to Men's Health in 2022, Efron had fallen inside his house and shattered his jaw on the corner of a fountain sometime in the years prior.
As The Mirror reported, his "chin bone" was allegedly "hanging off" his face after the freak accident.
The accident had happened sometime before April 2021, when fans started to notice a change in his appearance, Today reports.
This photo is from before the accident, in 2012.
As Efron later explained, recovery from the accident was so intensive that, as a side-effect, Efron's jawline changed considerably, leading to rumors of cosmetic surgery.
In Men's Health and Entertainment Tonight, he set the record straight: the change in his face was the result of intensive jaw muscle training while recovering from the accident.
While his management nor Efron himself have made any comments on the 'swimming incident' in Ibiza, the pre-existing condition of a shattered jaw may have been the reason for caution after a possible clash with the pool wall.
We do not know what exactly happened, but it is clear that Efron appears to be good as new. He continued to enjoy his stay in Ibiza and doesn't appear to have suffered much from his scare in the pool.
