Incredible... Bradley Cooper and other stars who've never won an Oscar!
The case of Bradley Cooper, nominated in 2024 for his portrayal of Leonard Bernstein in 'Maestro,' is remarkable. During his brilliant career, Cooper received 12 Oscar nominations, 5 of which were for acting. Yet, he never won any of those times! The nominations include Best Film (as the producer), Adapted Screenplay, Supporting Actor, and Lead Actor.
The list of actors and actresses in this gallery will surprise you. Despite their incredible careers and indisputable international fame, have never won an Oscar... at least for the moment! Take Harrison Ford, for example. He's practically cinema history, yet he never managed to take home the Oscar. But what is still truly astounding is that in his enviable career, he has only had one Oscar nomination, for best actor in 1985 for Peter Weir's 'Witness'.
Winona Ryder has also never won an Oscar, but she came very close on two occasions. In 1994 she received the nomination for 'The Age of Innocence' by Martin Scorsese, but on that occasion, the statuette was won by Anna Paquin. The following year, in 1995, Ryder received her second and last, for the moment, Oscar nomination with the film 'Little Women' by Gillian Armstrong, again as best leading actress.
Even finding Johnny Depp on this list might arouse disbelief in more than one person. For him, only three nominations as best leading actor for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' (2003), 'Finding Neverland' (2004), and, finally, for 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' (2007 ), but never made it to win the prize.
Even the illustrious name of Glenn Close is part of this list of actors and actresses who have never won an Oscar. For her, the disappointment is a little more bitter, given that during her long career she has received eight nominations, 4 for best leading actress and four for best supporting actress, without triumphing as she would have liked (and, perhaps, should have).
Although 'Saturday Night Fever' and 'Pulp Fiction' have become cinema classics, for John Travolta they are only his two Oscar nominations. No statuette for him!
In his showcase of awards and recognitions, Hugh Jackman can count on Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards, but one major absentee is the Oscar award! The actor, at the moment, only has one nomination for Best Leading Actor in 2013 for 'Les Misérables'.
Hard to believe, but the always charming Michelle Pfeiffer also ended up on this list. Among the awards, she won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival but no Oscar... for her only three nominations.
Although the characters he plays are now part of the history of cinema, such as Neo from 'The Matrix 'or John Wick, not to mention the films 'Point Break' or 'The Devil's Advocate', Keanu Reeves not only has not never won an Oscar, but never received any nominations! Something escapes us.
Much loved by the public and critics, despite the two well-deserved nominations in 2004 for '21 Grams' and in 2013 for 'The Impossible', Naomi Watts has never managed to win the prestigious statuette. We'll see if he can fix it over time.
Oh yes, even the legendary Sly is incredibly part of this list. For Sylvester Stallone, throughout his career, three nominations have arrived, we remember especially the one for best leading actor for 'Rocky', in 1977, a performance which, however, failed to convince the Academy.
It was 2003 when she played the protagonist of 'Unfaithful' alongside Richard Gere, a film that earned her her only nomination as best leading actress, but which failed to win her the statuette.
Even Ethan Hawke, like the other stars on this list, has never won the prestigious award awarded by the Academy. In his case, however, there were four nominations. If we want to put our finger on it, it must be noted that Hawke, despite numerous nominations for other awards such as the Golden Globe, BAFTA, or SAG Awards, has never managed to win one.
Since 2006, Amy Adams has accumulated 6 Oscar nominations, five for Best Supporting Actress and one for Best Leading Actress. Unfortunately for her, the Academy has always preferred someone else. Let's hope a role arrives soon that allows her to triumph.
Bruce Willis, who, unfortunately, has been forced to retire for some time due to frontotemporal dementia, a disease with no cure, has never received a nomination, consequently no Oscar for him.
In 2006 she came very close, thanks to her magnificent performance in 'Pride and Prejudice', but perhaps not enough to win the statuette. Keira Knightley also received a second nomination in 2015 for 'The Imitation Game'.
Jim Carrey is probably one of the most charismatic and entertaining actors in Hollywood and with his irony and talent, he has become a cornerstone of international cinema over the last thirty years. But did you know that he has never received any Oscar nominations in his career? Not even for 'The Truman Show', for which he won his second Golden Globe as best actor in 1999.
Thanks to Steven Spielberg's film 'The Fabelmans', she received her fifth Oscar nomination in 2023, but even for Michelle Williams the prestigious statuette is still an award to be won.
Many of his colleagues have claimed that Tom Cruise saved cinema in 2022 thanks to the takings of 'Top Gun: Maverick'. Despite his strong impact in the industry of seventh art, believe it or not, the actor in 'Magnolia', 'Jerry Maguire' or 'Born on the Fourth of July' (these are his only three best actor nominations, prior to the 2023 best picture nomination for 'Top Gun: Maverick'), has never won an Oscar.
Unfortunately, not even Helena Bonham Carter, for the moment, has managed to win a statuette, despite the two nominations for 'The Wings of the Dove' (1998) and 'The King's Speech'. (2011). Let's hope that the role that will allow her to leave this list arrives soon!
