On the night of Tuesday, July 9, John Hunt came home to his residence in Bushey, northwest of London, to find his family members severely injured.
Local authorities reported that three women, aged 25, 28, and 61, were in the house with serious injuries caused by a crossbow. Despite efforts to save them, they all died at the scene.
The three women were Hunt's wife, Carol (61), and his daughters Louise (25) and Hannah (28), BBC News confirmed.

An officer told the news site 10 News First that they received a call just before 7:00 pm and went directly to the residence. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the women died shortly afterward at the scene.
According to the local press, the three women had been tied up and then targeted with the crossbow.
The BBC confirmed that the victims were relatives of John Hunt, the broadcaster's sports commentator who specializes in car races.

As the suspect fled, police began an intense search in the area with the help of helicopters. A day after the attack, he was captured near the north London cemetery.
Media report that he was injured at the time of his arrest and did not resist. The police confirmed that the suspect was hospitalized in "serious condition" and has not yet given a statement.
According to the newspaper Milenio, the suspect is claimed to be Kyle Clifford, 26, a veteran of the British army. He allegedly knew the victims.

Early reports, among others by 10 News First, have suggested that Clifford was the ex-boyfriend of Louise, one of Hunt's daughters.

In a statement, Enfield authorities said that after an extensive search, officers located 26-year-old Kyle Clifford and did not need to use violence to arrest him. "The police did not shoot."
So far, the motive for this triple murder is unknown. It's possible that it was a crime of passion, as one of the victims may have been the suspect's ex-girlfriend. However, the brutal nature of the act has puzzled everyone.

UK Security Secretary Dan Jarvis told the BBC that the government will act quickly to decide whether changes to the regulation of crossbows are necessary. He said it's a real priority for the Home Office.
Meanwhile, John Hunt's relatives, colleagues, neighbors, and friends have expressed their condolences to the family.
