Before becoming a mother, Kelly Osbourne already made some big changes in her life. Her appearance changed significantly - thanks to, among others, a surgical intervention. The following photos show how the star transformed under the spotlight.
In 2002, the famous rocker Ozzy Osbourne drew his family into the limelight with 'The Osbournes,' a reality show that exposed their daily lives 24/7. The program was a resounding success and turned the whole family into TV personalities.
Kelly Osbourne was only 17 years old back then. At times, the fame overwhelmed her.
Two decades later, and after making a name for herself as a designer and influencer, Kelly took a radical turn in her life. She lost 88 pounds (40 kilos) in two years.
"I still can't believe that this is actually me in these pictures!!!!!" Kelly Osbourne wrote on Instagram. "In the past, I lost weight for social acceptance. This time... I did not lose weight for anyone but myself and it feels great!!!"
Throughout her time as a celebrity, Kelly Osbourne worked hard to lose weight, but especially after 2018, the transformation became noticeable.
In 2018, Kelly Osbourne had a secret operation to put on a gastric sleeve. She would talk about it at a later point, in the TV show 'The Talk' in 2020. The show was then hosted by, among others, her mother Sharon Osbourne.
"I've had surgery and I don't care what people have to say about it. I've done it, I'm proud of it and everyone can go to h e l l," she said in 'The Talk.'
"I want to make it very clear that I didn't have a gastric bypass, I had a gastric sleeve. It simply changes the shape of your stomach. I had it done in 2018 and I'll never lie about it: it's the best thing I've ever done."
Kelly's surgery went together with a sports routine and good nutrition. "With this type of surgery, if you don't exercise nor eat well, you regain weight," she said in 'The Talk.' However, "it does take you in the right direction." For Kelly, the sleeve limited her cravings and snacking between meals.
The gastric sleeve was not the only operation that Kelly Osbourne underwent. She also had her facial features corrected.
The jaw operation was cosmetic but also driven by discomfort. "I had a very strong pain in the temporomandibular joint. One of the things I did to stop it was to inject my jaw, which also helps it to look thinner."
"That's when people realized, really, that I had lost weight because it changed everything about my face," she said on the talk show.
During the interview, and in a relaxed and friendly tone, Kelly Osbourne assured that she had taken revenge on some men who had rejected her in the past for being overweight.
"You're a great girl but you're overweight. You're wonderful but..." are some of the comments that Kelly Osbourne received from people whom she had told that she fancied them.
Now, after she lost 88 pounds, some of these people try to contact the Black Sabbath singer's daughter again. Her answer has been clear and forceful: "No."
In 'The Talk', Kelly Osbourne that a gastric sleeve was impactful and that she had prepared for it over a long period. In the year before the surgery, she'd gone into therapy.
"I had to fix my head before I could fix my body. You can't do this if your mind isn't right". With the perspective given by time, Kelly Osbourne acknowledges "it's the best thing I did."
In fact, in her Instagram post, she gave similar advice to her more than 2.3 million followers: "If you are in the process of transformation, you must first love yourself."
