A regrettable angle for Catherine

The press and photographers of the world have managed to capture some of the royal family's most expressive and embarrassing photos. Catherine, the then-Duchess of Cambridge joined in a game of cricket in New Zealand in 2014. Unfortunately, her posture mid-throw created a photo that Her Royal Highness will probably not be too fond of looking back.

Royal Nazi

We know he regrets it now. Prince Harry won a "Royal Nazi" front page headline in 2005 while he was in New York City. The Prince reportedly attended a fancy dress party wearing a khaki uniform with an armband emblazoned with a swastika, the emblem of the German WWII Nazi Party.

Prince Andrew brought shame

This photo says it all - the Queen was reportedly severely affected by the accusations against her son, Prince Andrew, and it caused shame to the family. Of course, we all know that it was the photo of him with Virginia Giuffre that was particularly damaging for the royals and was used as evidence against the Prince.

Cheeky prince

Although quite endearing, this photo of cheeky Prince Harry with his mother, Princess Diana, was probably not one of the royals' preferred photo opportunities. Terribly unseemly for a prince?

Conjoined Christmas

Perhaps the royals may look back at this photo and shake their heads. Everyone loved a Christmas jumper - but a siamese one?

Pretzelgate

Less of a photo - more of a look. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will forever be remembered for these hats and 'pretzelgate'. No doubt they look back at these images from William and Kate's royal wedding with red faces.

Princess Diana in St Tropez

Princess Diana was captured shortly before her untimely death in 1997 having a wonderful time on a boat in St Tropez. The frivolous new life of the Princess was causing a stir in the royal family at the time.

THAT photo

One of the many photos taken of Diana by a number of paparazzi who reportedly harassed the Princess and her beau, Dodi Fayed, as they left the hotel. Despite the doom this photo represents, it was presented as part of the evidence at the Scott Baker Inquest into the crash, in which the jury found that Diana and Dodi had been unlawfully killed because of the reckless driving of Henri Paul and the pursuing paparazzi.

The interview that must not be named

Martin Bashir interviewed Princess Diana in Kensington Palace for the television program Panorama. The unethical course of events that led up to this interview meant that the Princess' words were coerced and the interview is no longer valid nor discussed.

Charles and Diana - a photo that speaks a thousand words

This photo is one of many that depicts the pair clearly not at ease with each other and unhappy in their marriage. Photos that later would show regret for their marriage altogether.

Beatrice's fashion faux pas

In 2017 at the V&A summer party, the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie showed a front of strong sisterhood. However, the slip under Beatrice's semi-sheer lace panel dress took a ride upwards, leaving a photo that bears more than she probably realised at the time.

Prince Louis at the jubilee

The Late Queen Elizabeth's jubilee was a spectacle for the British people. One little member of the royal family stole the show. Although the public loved the cheeky shots, the royals most likely thought the little Prince was a little too bold for the cameras.

The flyby

Louis stole the show again. Clearly unimpressed by the noise the special flypast was causing. The family were on the Buckingham Palace balcony watching the Trooping the Colour, as part of Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee celebrations, in London on June 2, 2022.

Not great press

In March 2022, photos of William and Kate were taken in the Caribbean that did not look good at all. The photos showed them shaking hands with residents through wired fences and captured protests in the streets against the British Empire. Certainly not the press the Prince and Princess were hoping for.

Not a good look

Press attacks against Meghan Markle have been plastered all over the media. This photo most likely didn't help the situation as Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth looks decidedly unimpressed while Meghan appears to have an air of superiority.

Racism allegations

As the royals received allegations of racism in 2022, this photo depicting Camilla, Queen Consort, in Bernardo's nursery added to the speculation. Social media erupted as Camilla was blamed for looking disgustedly at her hands after touching a small child.

Prince Philip's comments

This photo certainly is a reminder of one of Prince Philip's most disastrous comments. On a trip to Australia, the late Duke of Edinburgh said: "Do you still throw spears at each other?"

You're a wizard, Kate

In 2013, Kate Middleton took a trip to the Warner Bros. Studios and had a play with a wand. The crazed look in this photo is far removed from the pristine reputation the Princess of Wales now has.

Caught in the moment

We can all be caught by a camera at the wrong moment and that's exactly what happened here with Charles and Camilla. In 2015 they had a run-in with an eagle that clearly encourages some very colourful expressions from the couple - ones they most likely wish weren't caught on film.

Here's Camilla!

HRH King Charles and his wife Camilla were on a two-week tour of New Zealand and Australia in 2015. A rather scary shot of the now Queen Consort who probably wishes she made a less menacing face.

Prince Harry goofing around

Prince Harry jokes around the mascot of The Sharks rugby club at Kings Park Stadium in South Africa in 2015. The royals probably had a good eye roll at this one.

Cute or embarrassing?

Prince William is most likely torn in his opinion looking back at this adorable photo of himself as a young Prince. To celebrate his second birthday, he had a good mince in front of the cameras.

Silence of the Prince

Savannah Phillips put her hand over Prince George's mouth when they were standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping The Colour 2018. The menacing look from the little one could certainly bear into the soul.

One must look Her best

In fact, Queen Elizabeth was captured a number of times in her life putting on lipstick. The make-up touch-ups were captured on camera.

There's something about Camilla

Camilla, the then-Duchess of Cornwall, unfortunately, got snapped while her hair caught the wind. She was on a three-day visit to Morocco in 2011 and most likely isn't fond of this photo. If you've ever seen 'There's Something About Mary' you'll know what we mean.

Kate Middleton got stuck

In 2013, Catherine, Princess of Wales not only defied royal protocol by wearing black tights, but she also got her shoe stuck in the grating. Luckily she was helped by her knight in shining armour, Prince William.

Slippery fingers!

On a trip to Eton, Queen Elizabeth II dropped a bouquet of flowers given to her by a member of the public. Not to worry, Lord Lt of Berkshire, Mary Bayliss was there to ensure its safe return to Her Majesty's hands. Likely a moment the late Queen would have liked to erase from memory.

A gust of wind took Camilla by surprise

A photo most women would have trouble looking back on. Poor Camilla was caught by surprise but managed to maintain her dignity as a gust of wind took her skirt up and nearly launched her hat into the sky.

Camilla's argument with a brolly

Camilla does indeed have bad luck with the wind. Here the wind blew up to such an extent that caused the Queen Consort to struggle with her umbrella - something the press captured beautifully.
