Photos: the life and death of James Earl Jones, 93
James Earl Jones has one of the most recognizable voices of the last 50 years in Hollywood. An absolute legend of cinema who, unfortunately, has died at his home in Dutchess County, New York, at the age of 93.
According to media outlets such as CNN and TMZ, it was the veteran actor's agent who confirmed his death, although the causes of it have not been revealed.
If you have to describe James Earl Jones' career in some way, one adjective that you could use is amazing , for over 70 years, the actor has done everything and more importantly, everything well, .
He went from acting in classical theater to working in more commercial cinema. In between, he won the EGOT, that is, he won the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, an achievement very few people have accomplished.
Now, if there was one quality that made him eternal in the Mecca of Cinema, it was his powerful and deep voice, the same one he used to voice Darth Vader in the 'Star Wars' saga and Mufasa in 'The Lion King'.
Interestingly, James Earl Jones' career began almost by accident, after his English teacher suggested he recite poetry to overcome his stutter. "If I hadn't been a stutterer, I would never have been an actor," he recalled in an interview for the 'Los Angeles Times' in 2014.
In the mid-1950s he began his theatrical journey, with works such as 'Henry V' and 'Othello', which opened the doors of film and television for him in the early 1960s, becoming one of the first black actors to work regularly.
So much so, that his filmography is close to 200 appearances, between film and television. And that's without counting theater, where he did authentic marathons like the 18 plays he performed in 30 months, according to 'The New York Times'.
James Earl Jones was a tireless worker. In film, television and theater, year after year, advertisements, narrations of documentaries and dubbing that ranged from animated series to video games.
Among his most remembered works are Dr. Strangelove (1964), 'The Great White Hope' (1970), 'Conan, The Barbarian' (1982), Coming to America, (1988, in the photo) or 'Patriot Games' (1992).

Now, it was Darth Vader, the best villain in the history of cinema, who gave him the eternal glory of Hollywood. However it was only his voice that we heard, since the body under the famous black suit was that of David Prowse.
Interesting fact, James Earl Jones had to control his torrent of voice to make it more linear and adapted to what George Lucas wanted, which gives an idea of the actor's vocal power.
And as happens with Hollywood legends when they die, the person dies but their spirit and legacy will remain forever on the screen.
