Robert Pattinson, ever-changing from Twilight to Batman and Mickey 17

In Bong Joon-Ho's upcoming film, 'Mickey 17' (based on the novel 'Mickey7'), Robert Pattinson plays a clone that is easily expendable and therefore used on dangerous tasks in the movie version of Edward Ashton's novel.

Although production on the film is all wrapped up, little is known about the plot. However, online reports such as 'Curiosity Central' say that Pattinson will come face to face with one of his clones and things get complicated.

Pattinson has appeared in conventional movies and Blockbusters, but the actor prefers the challenge of different and complex characters to that of a mainstream leading man.

After almost five years of playing Edward Cullen, the actor had filmed the end of the Twilight saga and could now finally cut his hair. He did so to play Eric Packer, a 28-year-old millionaire. He may have had a hard time getting into the role though.

After a two-year break (with some moody Dior modelling in-between), Robert Pattinson began his race to leave Edward Cullen behind. He started with an Australian western set in a dystopian future after a global economic collapse, sharing the lead role with Guy Ritchie. Not bad. And he completely shaved his hair.

Short hair, tailor-made suit and all about Hollywood, this film was another box-office flop. The film industry was starting to look dark and cold beyond 'Twilight,' but Robert Pattinson had the courage to keep trying out more independent titles.

And from one 'failure' to another. On the verge of turning 30, he agreed to share the lead role with Nicole Kidman. Despite this incredible pairing, the film flopped miserably. It cost 30 million dollars and grossed only two million.

Edward Cullen moved on. Robert Pattinson sported a beard, for the first time on screen, as well as a more muscular body. His Henry Costin is pure testosterone - a more mature version of the boyish Pattinson we were used to. He was proving himself to be a real chameleon of the screen.

A very small film, which grossed just over 300,000 dollars, it allowed us to see an unkempt, goateed Robert Pattinson cross half of the United States to marry Mia Wasikowska.

'The Lighthouse' could have given the actor a possible Oscar nomination. He didn't make it, but his name was already in the air. His character faces the challenges of living alone on a remote, deserted island. And all with a gaunt face and an XXL moustache.

And Robert Pattinson went back to blonde at the hands of Shakespeare and Netflix, who cast him as The Dauphin to Henry IV of England. Add Shakespeare to his list. Is there anything he can't (and won't) do?

Robert Pattinson in a sci-fi movie? Why not? From being a vampire to time travel, the line is pretty fine anyway. Besides, at 34, he's ready for any role he's given. As of today, it's argued he is one of the best actors of his generation.
