Cancelation all around

Ellen DeGeneres has gone from being canceled on television to canceling four shows from her stand-up tour.

Return to stand up

The 'Ellen DeGeneres On Tour' takes the comedian on tour across the United States over the summer. She had more than 30 performances scheduled.

Inexplicably canceled

However, without further explanation, Ticketmaster reported that four shows had been canceled.

Generic message

"Unfortunately, the organizer of the event has been forced to cancel it," was the message on the ticket-purchasing site for those interested in these particular shows.

Which Ellen Degeneres shows were canceled?

Dallas (July 10), San Francisco (July 21), Seattle (July 23), and Chicago (August 11) were the canceled shows. As such, the shows were to take place in several corners of the United States.

Fewer shows in the same cities

In fact, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago maintained another date for Ellen Degeneres, either before or after the canceled one, so she is simply performing less in those cities rather than staying away altogether.

Just one logical explanation...

The most reasonable explanation is that Ellen did not sell enough tickets for the cities mentioned. When canceling one show there, she may be able to attract more people to the other. Still, there is no confirmation from the organization or Ellen herself that weak ticket sales were the cause of the cancelations.

It had good reviews

So far, viewers and critics have rated Ellen's stand-up show with 4.2 out of 5, so it's definitely not the quality that is lacking. So maybe it's the time of year, or the controversy surrounding the comedian?

Canceled TV show

The stand-up tour comes after the cancelation of Ellen's legendary talk/comedy show following accusations of the star fostering a toxic work environment.

I didn't want to end like this but...

Ellen addressed that fact in her theater show: "Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it's ending," she said.

No comment on accusations

Meanwhile, Ellen Degeneres has never commented on the accusations that she was a terrible boss who created a stressful and unpleasant work atmosphere on the set of her show. Maybe stand-up is not the place to do it.
