Sydney Sweeney's bold new look
At first glance, the idea of Sydney Sweeney stepping into the shoes of a boxer like Christy Martin for her upcoming biopic might seem like a stretch. But once you start digging into it, this look for the (usually) blonde beauty all begins to make sense.

First off, as Sweeney herself said during an Instagram live: she did fighting and kickboxing from ages 12 to 19, and was itching to get back in the ring, to train, and transform her body.

Second, you have to recognize Sweeney’s ability to completely transform herself, on par with legendary transformations like those of Jared Leto or Christian Bale.

She’s changed her hair, bulked up, and in just a few months, her physical resemblance to the legendary boxer Christy Martin is undeniable and impressive.
Sweeney knows that a role like this could be her ticket to officially cement her place in Hollywood’s A-list (if she’s not there already). Everyone knows that a striking physical transformation in a biopic tends to grab the Academy’s attention.
Sydney Sweeney may be doing the heavy lifting to embody Christy Martin, but it’s David Michôd (‘The King’) who will be directing her, trying to coax out her best performance.
The biopic will capture the bold career of Christy Martin, the most famous female boxer in the U.S. during the 1990s. Nicknamed “The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” she was the only female boxer to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated and the first woman to sign with promoter Don King.
However, beyond her sports achievements, Christy Martin's personal life was fraught with hardship. She endured abuse as a child and later married her trainer, Jim Martin, who abused her for years and even attempted to end her life in 2010.

This dark chapter in her life was covered in Netflix’s 2021 documentary 'Untold: Deal with the Devil' (part of the Untold sports documentary series), which shed light on the brutal reality behind her public persona.

It’s safe to assume that Sydney Sweeney’s film won’t shy away from these difficult moments—if they’re aiming for award contention, they’ll likely delve deep into the full scope of Martin’s story.
As of now, the film doesn’t have an official title or release date. But whenever it hits theaters, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
