As the video of William and Catherine was quite blurry and there are no signs to date it, several critics claim that it may have been taken earlier, falsified with AI, or that it featured a different woman altogether.

It doesn't seem like a coincidence that The Sun premiered the video of Princess Kate. It has distinguished itself from other media in defending the Princess of Wales against harassment on social media.

In reaction to the thousands of conspiracy theories about Princess Catherine on social media, The Sun published a front-page headlining "Lay Off Kate" and advocating more respect for the privacy of the royal.

The Princess of Wales being out of public life for medical reasons would not be a problem in and of itself, but the way in which that absence has been managed by the palace's PR team is what set off alarm bells. There has been little clear information about her condition, a manipulated image was released, and Prince William was inexplicably absent from an important event.

While there was growing uncertainty about Catherine's health, William was absent from the funeral of Constantine of Greece held in Windsor on February 27, 2024. Queen consort Camilla had to replace him.

According to The Independent, Prince William explained his non-attendance at Constantine's funeral as "a private matter." That vague expression triggered speculation: was Kate very sick? Or, perhaps, his father who's been treated for prostate cancer?

The same newspaper points out that there is allegedly some pressure on the princess to appear at the traditional Eastern Sunday service on March 31. The Royal Family attends it every year.
