The life of Violet, the daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck
From her last name, we can already imagine where she comes from. This is how Violet Affleck, the daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, has grown up.
Violet is the child of a Hollywood couple that once was considered the most stable: Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. They were officially together for 13 years, from 2005 through 2018.
Ben Affleck has always been reluctant to get photographed on the streets, a consequence of his celebrity status. Both he and Jennifer Garner have tried to shield their children from the press as much as possible.
They appeared to succeed in living a conventional family life. It was common to see Violet and her siblings going grocery shopping with their parents, or walking to school, just like a normal family.
While Jennifer Garner does her best to ignore the cameras during an outing in New York, Violet decides to offer them a big smile.
This is 4-year-old Violet being picked up from school by her famous father Ben Affleck.
She went to the First Presbyterian Church in their home town of Santa Monica, California, with her mom.
Violet has two younger siblings. Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck was born in 2009 and Samuel Garner Affleck in 2012.
Even though she was only 10, Violet was not bored at all when she and her mother sat in the audience of the American Senate to hear her father speak about foreign aid in 2015. Ben Affleck is the founder of an organization called Eastern Congo Initiative.
Fast forward seven years, Violet and her mother would be at their most elegant in the White House. They attended the dinner to welcome the French President Emmanuel Macron to the US in December 2022.
The years in between were not the easiest ones for young Violet Affleck. First of all, she had to divide her time between her two parents' households once Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got divorced.
They made their decision to separate in 2015, but Ben Affleck continued to live near his children in a guesthouse until 2017, People magazine reported. In that year, as Violet turned 12, he permanently moved away.
Apart from her parents' divorce, Violet also had to deal with serious health problems. As she revealed recently, she got a permanent post-viral condition after a seemingly minor illness. Since then, she consistently wears a mask in public. Details about her condition have not been revealed, USA Today reports.
As an 18-year-old, in 2024, Violet Affleck spoke out about her personal experience. She gave a speech to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors about use of masks in public spaces. "I contracted a post-viral condition in 2019," she revealed. "I'm OK now, but I saw first-hand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown that into sharper relief."
Violet Affleck responded to a plan by the Los Angeles government to ban masks for protesters on the streets and make them less available in spaces like prisons and government buildings. Such bans "do not keep us safer," she said. "They make vulnerable members of our community less safe and make everyone less able to participate in Los Angeles together."
Besides making her parents proud for her activism on behalf of vulnerable people and graduating high school in 2024, Violet also supports her mom and dad in everything they do. As an example, she was a friend to Jennifer Lopez during the time the singer and her father were a couple (2021-2024).
