2022, a bonanza of TV series
2022 was not the happiest year in terms of world news, but the production of TV series was phenomenal. Among them was the fourth and last season of 'Killing Eve,' with great performances by Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh. All the pending plots are closed this season and it's probably the last time we see Villanelle.
November 23 - One of the series of the year with Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams. The spinoff from the legendary Addams franchise is modern and delights old and young fans alike.
February 11, nominated for an Emmy Award - Shonda Rhimes tells the true story of Anna Delvey, the notorious German heiress who became known as New York's biggest con artist. If you didn't catch it in February, there's still time.
Strong female leads did very well in the TV year 2022. Even though 'White Lotus' season 2 had a varied cast (to the point of being bilingual between Italian and English), the women stand out. Jennifer Coolidge, reprising her role as the unlucky millionaire heiress Tanya McQuoid, deserves multiple awards for her performance.
September 21 - This series is interesting beyond Britain. Kenneth Branagh has completely and physically transformed into Boris Johnson. The five-part drama focuses on the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
November 30 - More than three decades after the legendary film, 'Willow' returned as a series. It did so with Warwick Davis, the original star, involved in the project and with Ron Howard producing.
August 21 - This production is a candidate for series of the year and the first of the 'Game of Thrones' spinoffs to be released. It is set hundreds of years before the plot we saw in HBO's legendary drama.
September 2 - Along with 'House of the Dragon,' this too was one of the most eagerly anticipated series of the year. With a budget of more than 1 billion dollars, the adaptation of Tolkien's classic should be among the television events of 2022. A must for all fans and probably even new audiences.
November brought the fifth season of the great Netflix series about the British royal family. It also came with a change of cast. Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, and Elizabeth Debicki play Queen Elizabeth II, Charles, and Diana, respectively, in a season that focuses on the divorce that shook the British crown.
August 5 - The graphic novel series that has won the World Fantasy Award for short fiction and the Bram Stoker Award is now a sensation on Netflix. The main character, Dream, AKA Morpheus (the dream of the endless), is an ancient being with evil siblings who have existed since the beginning of time. Tony-nominated actor Tom Sturridge (Orphans, Sea Wall/A Life) plays Dream in the series.
August 18 - Tatiana Maslany landed one of the year's hottest roles. With August and September being heavy-weight months for fantasy and superhero series, this Marvel hit includes Mark Ruffalo, as well as one of its most fearsome villains: Abomination.
November - Omar Sy has made Lupin one of Netflix's most exciting characters. His third season gave continuity to his story of revenge and redemption while also opening up other avenues for new plots for more continuity in the future.
November 11 - Two women are hired to clean a mansion, leaving it as clean as a whistle, without knowing that there was a corpse in it. Having tidied up the crime scene, they become prime suspects and have to flee from everyone and everything.
May 22, nominated for an Emmy Award - Coronavirus pushed the Netflix series back to summer, but then fans could expect the fourth installment of Stranger Things to be its darkest. Obviously, by now it has an almost mature cast that millions of people have watched grow up.
January 13 - John Cena and his glorious character in 'Sui***e Squad' have earned a series of their own. And they've done it with James Gunn at the helm, ensuring that the eight episodes of its first season were blissfully insane.
January 24 - Christine Baranski, Carrie Coon, and Cynthia Nixon in late 19th century New York high society. A family and a business battle, on the brink of major change around the world.
January 28 - A high school alumni reunion that gets complicated. So much so that it gets to the point where one of them is murdered. Each chapter is the version of one of those involved, using different film genres depending on the story.
January 28 - Agustín Martínez and Carlos Montero tell a story with supernatural overtones. Two sisters face the terrible crime that, according to all indications, their parents had committed before disappearing: 23 are dead in a village where everyone knows everyone...
February 2 - Undoubtedly one of the best science fiction series of recent years. Ridley Scott gives us the dystopia in which robots protect human beings from extinction, in the face of the threats that loom over them. Season 2 has the tagline 'Sacrifice For Survival.'
February 4 - The Jack Reacher films were a success for Tom Cruise, but this Jack Reacher is much, much taller. The casting of Alan Ritchson (Titans) has gone down a treat with lovers of the character originally brought to life by Lee Child in his best-selling books.

February 25 - With Ragnar now retired, this 'Vikings' spinoff has the difficult task of picking up the baton. It does so by showing the lives of the most famous members of other clans and with Michael Hirst, creator of the original series, at the helm of this version.
February 27 - After the tragic news broke that Helen McCrory, who’d played Polly Gray in the first five seasons, had sadly passed away, 'Peaky Blinders' returned for ts final season; with new characters and, of course, the spectacular Tom Hardy reprising his role as Alfie Solomons. The Shelby Family bids a final farewell - or do they? Rumors have it that the breathtaking series will actually finish in the form of a film.
March 7 - With the American War of Independence about to break out, Outlander season 6 must first show what happens to Claire and the tremendous cliffhanger left to us from the fifth installment.
March 18 -The story of WeWork, a startup specializing in coworking that went bankrupt after an ill-fated IPO. A story of pyramid schemes, harassment, and many shady deals, led by Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto.
March 25 - Shonda Rhimes' smash hit on Netflix returned for a second season. Nothing is more pleasing than a palatial soap opera with beautiful people, betrayals, and love affairs.
March 30 - Moon Knight, played by Oscar Isaac, is a strange character with multiple personalities; traumatized by the Nazis and betrayed by a family friend. All in the midst of a bloody war between Egyptian gods - and with Oscar Isaac in the lead role. Impossible to miss.
April 8 - After the fifth season of Netflix's most provocative series, a sixth installment has already been confirmed. There are new characters in the Spanish school drama, combined with the presence of some classic characters that continue in Las Encinas.
May 27 - Ewan McGregor reprised his role as Obi Wan and Jedi Master and his failed Padawan face each other in this much-anticipated Disney Plus series.
June 8 - A Pakistani-American girl from New Jersey writes superhero fiction and develops shape shifting powers the more she writes. A 16-year old called Khamala Khan AKA Ms Marvel is a good student but struggles to fit in - until she has super powers of course.
August 19 - The only survivor of a horrific bus accident wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. However, she begins to have terrifying visions.
Kathryn Hann deserved her own show on Wandavision and she's got it. At the moment, it's all hush-hush about the plot, but many people are pointing to Mephisto as the big villain of the installment. Also, the release date is uncertain but it is probably in 2023.
This wonderful series has been pushed to 2023. Everything points to the fourth season being the last, but you never know. After a sensational third season, in which many secondary characters took on leading roles, the fourth season will have to deal, definitively, with the relationship between Otis and Maeve, depending on how the latter returns from her study trip.
The alternate histories of the Marvel multiverse caused a sensation and will return with a second installment. It's not certain on which date at the beginning of 2023 this will be, though. In any case, the series gives a new twist to the dogma established by the comics for decades.
