It was more than a decade ago when the royal household announced the engagement of Catherine Middleton to William, the Duke of Cambridge. Of course, as many know, her engagement ring holds much more sentiment than its incredible, unique appearance.

Kate Middleton’s engagement ring is a 12-carat oval blue sapphire, cut into facets, and surrounded by fourteen solitaire diamonds. The setting is made from 18K white gold. Jewelers added small platinum beads inside the ring’s band in order to make it smaller for the Duchess' slight fingers.

Obviously, the ring was Princess Diana's first, William's mother. Interestingly, when she got engaged to HRH the Prince of Wales, Diana opted to choose her own ring instead of choosing one from the royal jewels. Although Harry initially had the ring passed to him, he agreed at the time of William's engagement that it would be apt for Kate to wear it.

The singer has been engaged several times, and twice with Ben Affleck. Her first, brief engagement with the actor resulted in the singer walking away with a beautiful 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond. But that's not her even most impressive engagement ring to date...

Jennifer married her friend, Marc Anthony, in a surprise wedding in Beverly Hills, after he placed a huge rock on her finger. The ring holds an 8.5-carat blue diamond ring, which many outlets have reported to be worth a hugely expensive $4 million.

In 2017, the actress got engaged to one of the world's most eligible bachelors, Prince Harry of England. The ring was designed by Harry himself.

The delicate piece has a three-carat cushion cut centre diamond from Botswana, a place that holds special meaning to the couple. The centre stone is surrounded by two round diamonds from Harry's mother, Diana's personal jewellery collection - he had wanted his mother to be with them along this journey. It is estimated that the centre diamond could cost about £70,000 - £115,000. Not all fairytales, though, Meghan got the ring redesigned a few years later.

It's hard to say what cost more - Kim's engagement ring which Kanye West adorned her finger with in 2013 or the multi-million dollar divorce. In fact, West bought his wife two incredible stones, the second one an emerald-cut - rectangular and trimmed at the corners. However, this ring attracted the wrong attention and was stolen, along with around $ 10 million worth of jewels in a robbery while the reality TV star was staying in Paris.

He initially gave her a huge 15-carat flawless diamond oval ring which is worth around $4-$5 million today. With only about 0.001% of all diamonds given the label 'flawless' (i.e. no visible blemishes even when the diamond is under 10X magnification), we can see why the stone fetches a pretty price.

Parker chose well, giving the 'Desperate Housewives' actress a stunning emerald cut engagement ring set in white gold and at a huge five carats.
