The tragically young age at which Cara Delevingne started drinking

In the summer of 2022, actress and model Cara Delevingne seemed to hit rock bottom. Her photos in an airport, disoriented and deteriorated, worried fans and friends.

Two years later, the actress can boast of having straightened out her life, being sober, and realizing that drinking or substances are not helpful to cope with her problems.

Despite this improvement, Cara Delevingne has made a confession that has perplexed the entire world: she was intoxicated for the first time... when she was 8 years old!

In an interview with 'Sunday Times', the model recalled that at her aunt's wedding, back in 2001, "You know I got drunk that day. I was 8, what a crazy age to get drunk."

Cara Delevingne was honest and acknowledged that for years she has abused all types of substances, but it is her aunt's wedding day that she remembers because it had such a big impact on the young girl.

In the summer of 2022, she remembers that she spent three weeks in Ibiza and at the 'Burning Man' Festival getting completely wasted. That's how she explained her appearance in the viral and worrying photos that were taken of her.

"I used to think drugs and alcohol helped me cope... but they didn't, they kept me sad and super depressed," she told the Sunday Times.

Today, the model acknowledges having regained her power and control. "I feel like I've got my power back and I'm not being controlled by other things."

What's more, she admits that if she had not been sober, "I would have never been Sally Bowles in the West End. I'm super proud of that." She plays the role in the musical 'Cabaret' in London.

Recently, Cara Delevingne went to the Glastonbury Festival, but she is confident she can be with people who consume without having to do so herself. "It smelt bad, my feet hurt and I didn't stay up so late, but it was just as much funny."

The actress says that if the March 2024 fire at her Los Angeles mansion, valued at $7 million, had occurred in another era, she would probably have used substances to activate her defense mechanisms.

On the verge of turning 32, Cara Delevingne has taken an important leap in maturity. She embraces a healthy life and sees her first drink at age 8 as something hard to remember - not something to feel proud of.
