Second-time First Lady has a book

We'll be hearing a lot more from (or about) Melania Trump in the next four years. However, even before it was certain that her husband would return to the White House as the President of the USA, the former model and First Lady had already surprised us with her somewhat open-hearted - and sometimes quirky - memoirs.

First meeting in 1998

Melania Trump revealed in her new book that she met Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in 1998. Even though he was accompanied by a blonde woman, Trump approached her and struck up a conversation, according to an excerpt from her new book obtained by Variety.

A brief but memorable connection

The former first lady shared that although the interaction was brief, there was a special connection. Trump disarmed her with his charm and focus on the conversation, which left a lasting impression. "There was so much bustling activity around us, but his intense focus on our interaction made me feel like the center of his world," she wrote.

She didn't give him her number

When Donald Trump asked for her phone number, Melania declined, which surprised him. Instead of giving him her number, she asked for his, which he gladly accepted.

The beginning of a relationship

Following this first meeting, Melania and Donald began dating on and off. They eventually married in 2005 and welcomed their son, Barron (photo), a year later.

Melania on reproductive rights

In her book, Melania Trump shared that she does not agree with all of Donald's decisions, particularly his stance on abortion rights. She supports women's reproductive rights and their autonomy to make decisions about their bodies.

Disagreement on January 6

As reported by Page Six, Melania also criticizes the violence that occurred during the assault on the Capitol on January 6, stating that the coverage was shocking and that the violence was unacceptable.

Music and movies they share

In her book, Melania revealed that both she and Donald are fond of Elvis Presley and Elton John. At the early stage of their relationship, they enjoyed dancing together and watching classic movies.

Relationship with the Trump family

Melania admits she doesn't always agree with the opinions of Donald's older children, but she has always sought to build relationships based on respect and love. "My approach to building relationships with Donald’s children has always been grounded in love and respect. I recognize their individuality, understanding that, as their stepmother, my role is not to replace their mothers but to nurture a supportive and amicable connection," she said in her book.

The rejected-hand-holding incident

Melania also clarified the famous incident where she allegedly refused to hold Donald's hand on a trip to Israel in 2017. She explains that it was just a misunderstanding due to formal protocols.

Launch of her book 'Melania'

Melania's memoir, simply titled 'Melania,' was released on Oct. 8. It offers a look at her years as First Lady, her differences with former President Trump, and her perspective on a variety of issues. At the time it was uncertain whether the book would help or hurt her husband's campaign, but by now we know that, at least, it didn't lower his stature among the Republican majority.
