This is Jyoti Amge

According to Guinness World Records, Jyoti Kisange Amge is the shortest woman in the world. She is 62.8cm (2.06 ft) tall at age 28 and is one of the most iconic Guinness World Records title holders.

Achondroplasia

Jyoti was born on December 16, 1993, in Nagpur, India. She has achondroplasia, a genetic defect that severely inhibits growth.

Entry in the Guinness World Records

She was inducted into the Guinness World Records in 2009 when it was confirmed that she is the world's shortest living teen at 61.95cm (2.03 ft).

"Shortest woman living (mobile)"

Two years later, on her 18th birthday, Jyoti was measured again. She was 62.8cm (2.06 ft) tall, making her the shortest woman living (mobile). Before that, the American Bridgette Jordan was the record holder with 69cm (2.26 ft).

Ma Petite in 'American Horror Story:

Jyoti has held her record for over a decade and also broken a second: the shortest actress. She played the role of Ma Petite in 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' (2014). In the picture, she poses with her colleagues Emma Roberts and Jamie Brewer.

Premiere of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

Here she is photographed and interviewed by the press upon her arrival for the premiere screening of FX's 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' at the TCL Chinese Theater on October 5, 2014, in Hollywood.

Leg fractures

Due to her condition, Jyoti has suffered multiple leg fractures over the past few decades. In the US, she hopes to find a long-term solution, according to a report by TLC.

1 million followers

Although she always needs help because of her height, Jyoti has a big personality and is always smiling and laughing. She also shows this on her successful Instagram account, which is followed by 1 million fans.

Sultan Kösen, the tallest man according to Guinness World Records

Pictured here is Jyoti with a Turkish man, Sultan Kösen, who was dubbed the "tallest living person" by Guinness World Records.

With Sultan in Egypt

Sultan and Jyoti get along great. The size difference doesn't matter at all. Together they visited the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt in January 2018.

Meeting with Brahim Takioullah

Here, Jyoti Amge sits next to Moroccan Brahim Takioullah, who has the world's largest feet according to the Guinness Book of Records.

Social work

In 2020, Jyoti helped police in India convey the important message that people should stay at home during the pandemic, and that washing hands regularly and wearing face masks outside is important.

She loves babies and toddlers

At less than a meter, Jyoti is shorter than the average two-year-old. So it's not surprising that Jyoti looks particularly small when she's around children and babies. She does like them very much and thinks they're cute.

Her family

When Jyoti is with her family, they carry her so she can see the world from their point of view. Around the house, she often helps out with preparing meals, making hot drinks, and sweeping.

"Family... is everything"

Her family has been strong and supportive throughout her life. Before she became famous thanks to the Guinness World Records entry, people would sometimes bully her. "She felt down," Jyoti's father tells GWR.
