The tragic passing of South Korean comedian and YouTuber Sung Yong at 35
There is yet another death in the K-entertainment industry, as the South Korean comedian and YouTuber Sung Yong was reported by Maeil Business News to have passed on November 21 at the young age of 35.

Sung Yong was a comedian and YouTuber who was also part of the comedy collective 3Combo.
Sung Yong was born on October 15, 1989, in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. According to Namu, he was a graduate of Dongil Technical High School.
Sung Yong’s name is intriguing in itself. Despite it sounding different phonetically, he shares the same name as Jackie Chan, which is spelt the same in Hanja and Chinese. The name literally translates to “becoming a dragon”.
Namu reports that Sung Yong had aspired to be a comedian all his life and was active in several comedy theatre troupes, such as Kim Dae-beom Theatre and Galgali Hall.
Deciding to carve out a path for himself, Maeil Business News reports that Sung Yong then created his own YouTube channel where he uploads personal gag comedy skits.
Eventually, Sung Yong joined up with a collective of comedians in 2020 and became part of the comedy collective, 3Combo as a guest member, reports Namu.
Since the decision to become a comedian on YouTube, Sung Yong has enjoyed huge success in his career. To date, he has about 242,000 subscribers on his personal channel.
Sung Yong’s death is an unexpected one, as it was only known when the members of 3Combo announced his passing on November 21, reports Allkpop. According to the report, the cause of his death is still a mystery.
According to Maeil Business News, Sung Yong's last YouTube upload was on November 21, 10 days before his death. Given the timing of the upload, many people were shocked when they learnt that Sung Young had died at the young age of 35.
