Speaking frankly about his health problems

Landon Barker, the son of musician Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler, recently decided to open up about the illness he has endured since his earliest childhood.

Tourette syndrome

Through a video shared on social media, the influencer confirmed that he suffers from Tourette Syndrome, although it's in in a "very mild" stage.

Neurological disorder

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder that is characterized by involuntary movements and sounds, also known as 'tics'.

In response to a follower's comment

"Hi, guys! I figured I'd speak on this eventually. But yeah, I actually do have very, very minor Tourette’s," he commented after a follower suggested that Landon Barker may suffer from this disorder.

Diagnosed in childhood

The young influencer confirmed that he has lived with this condition since childhood. He also said that the symptoms intensify in "nervous situations and nerve-wracking environments."

Tics got him in trouble at school

To explain what he was living with, Landon Barker recalled his time in preschool when his teacher accused him of making fun of the class and grimacing with his eyes. In reality, the child wasn't being funny; he was dealing with involuntary tics.

Uncontrolled movements

Other symptoms that he occasionally has are "shaking my head from side to side or moving my jaw rapidly."

He wants to end the stigma

The 20-year-old celebrity says he wants to raise awareness about Tourette Syndrome and lift the stigma off the disorder.

Supported by his young followers

Landon's words got applause from his followers, who are especially Gen Z and millennials. They poured out messages of support and gratitude on all his social media profiles.

No cure...

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological condition that tends to become apparent at an early age and persists into adulthood. There is no cure for it.

... but it can be treated

However, treatments can help control the symptoms. Through training, people can learn how to deal with and diminish their vocal and physical tics.

The son of a famous pop star

Landon's father Travis Barker is the drummer of Blink-182 and currently married to Kourtney Kardashian. Landon and his sister Alabama Barker were born out of the past relationship of the drummer with Shanna Moakler.

His father's response

After his son made the announcement about his condition, Travis made sure to signal that he was proud of his son.

"I love you Landon Asher Barker"

On National Son's Day, March 4, Travis Barker addressed Landon in his Instagram stories. He shared a sweet picture of his son at a younger age during a Blink-182 show and wrote: "National son day love you @landonasherbarker."

Landon was recently in the news

It wasn't the first time this year that the influencer and singer of 'Friends with Your Ex' made the news. Previously, Landon Barker had confirmed that he and his girlfriend, the TikTok star Charli D'Amelio, had broken up.

End of his relationship with Charli D'Amelio

As he told his followers on social media, Landon and Charli had separated on good terms.
