Acclaimed lyricist Will Jennings, known for hits like 'My Heart Will Go On' from the soundtrack of 'Titanic,' died in his home in Tyler, Texas at the age of 80. Jennings had been battling health issues in recent years, the Hollywood Reporter (THR) states.

Jennings won two Oscars for his compositions: the first in 1983 for 'Up Where We Belong' for 'An Officer and a Gentleman,' and the second in 1998 for 'My Heart Will Go On.'

Born in Kilgore, Texas, Jennings began his Hollywood career in 1976. A year later, he co-wrote Barry Manilow's hit 'Looks Like We Made It,' THR recalls.

In the 1990s, Jennings collaborated with Eric Clapton to write 'Tears in Heaven', a touching tribute to the tragic loss of Clapton's son. It was featured on the soundtrack to the film 'The Edge of Heaven'. and won the Grammy for Best Song of the Year.

In addition to these classics, Jennings wrote for a number of artists, including Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Steve Winwood. His legacy in the music industry spans genres from pop to country music, The Guardian reported.

Among his most memorable hits is also 'Where Are You Christmas?', the central song from the film 'The Grinch' (2000), performed by Faith Hill.

In 2006, Jennings was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, recognizing a career filled with hits and legendary collaborations.

Throughout his career, Jennings demonstrated his versatility as a lyricist, working on iconic ballads and memorable songs such as 'One Day I'll Fly Away.' This song would be featured in 'Moulin Rouge!,' starring Nicole Kidman.

According to THR, Peter Wolf, a close friend of Jennings, described him as "a maestro, brilliant mind and a gentle spirit." He highlighted his generosity and the influence he had on the musicians he worked with.
