What happened to the cast of the '90s movie 'Clueless'?

Rolling Stone magazine classified it as "the ultimate teen comedy". The movie was also nominated to be included in the AFI's 100 best movies of all time. 'Clueless' hit theaters almost 28 years ago and still is an iconic film that is praised by the millennial and gen-z generations.

Believe it or not, the movie is inspired by Jane Austen's novel 'Emma'. It's definitely a free and modern twist to the Austen book that proves that teen dramas work no matter the period they are written in.

The story circles around the life of the popular and rich high school student Cher Horowitz who feels unstoppable meddling in the love lives of teachers and friends (much like Austen's Emma), doing style makeovers, and obsessing over clothes. Terms like "As if", "Whatever" and "Outie" are all Cher and her friends understand...

With time, the movie has become a cult film due to its huge impact on society and fashion. The success was such that 'Clueless' was turned into a TV show and a book series,  served as inspiration for a Donatella Versace collection and even became a Broadway musical in 2018... But were the cast of the movie as lucky and successful as the film? Let's find out!

She is the queen bee of her high school and lives with her father in a mansion in Beverly Hills. Her good intentions can sometimes put her in very awkward situations...

Although she had a minor appearance in the show 'The Wonder Years', Silverstone's breakthrough role was in the movie 'The Crush' (1993). Just two years later, the actress would star in the movie she will be always remembered for: 'Clueless'.

Silverstone then had a promising career. However, the actress appeared in different films that weren't very successful: 'Batman & Robin' (1997), 'Excess Baggage' (1997), 'Blast from the Past' (2000), and even the blockbuster 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed' (2004). The most relevant work of the actress in those years was the NBC miniseries 'Miss Match' (2003) for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe award.

Although the actress hasn't stopped working in cinema and television, Silverstone hasn't been able to surpass the success of her role as Cher Horowitz. Lately, we have been able to see the actress in the Netflix movie 'The Senior Year' (2021), and in the recently released horror film, 'Perpetrator' (2023).

She is Cher's best friend. Although reluctant at first, Dionne also gets involved in all sorts of situations after being convinced by Cher.

The first important role in Stacey's career was in the Richard Pryor-led comedy movie 'Moving' (1988); then she continued working in cinema and television until she starred in her most successful project to date: 'Clueless' (1995). After the film, Dash continued being Dionne Davenport in the series of the same name from 1996 to 1999.

Stacey Dash has kept on working in TV shows like 'The Strip' (2000) and 'Single Ladies' (2011) but has mostly appeared in some TV movies and reality TV shows like 'Celebrity Circus' (2008) and 'College Hill: Celebrity Edition' (2022).

She is a new high school student who will soon be targeted by Cher and Dionne to become their best friend, "suffer" a style makeover, and turn into a popular girl.

'Clueless' was her breakthrough role in 1995, and since then appeared in successful movies like 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' and 'Girl, Interrupted' both in 1999, 'Don't Say a Word' (2001), '8 Mile' (2002), and 'Sin City' (2005). The actress also had important voice roles in the TV show 'King of the Hill' (1997-2009) and the movie 'Happy Feet' (2006).

Unfortunately, on the 20th of December 2009, Brittany Murphy passed away from what doctors assumed was a combination of pneumonia and anemia. However, later events and findings would add a lot of mystery to the actress's death... The last we could see of Murphy was released posthumously: 'Abandoned' (2010) and 'Something Wicked' (2014).

He is Cher's step-brother who already goes to college. Josh is very environmentally conscious and undermines Cher's obsession with pop culture.

Although he started with a recurring role in the '90s show, 'Sister, Sister', his first remembered part in cinema is indeed the one of Josh Lucas in 'Clueless'. After that, he went on to appear in other relevant movies like 'Halloween: The Curse of Michael Meyer', 'Romeo + Juliet', 'Wet Hot American Summer', 'Knocked Up' and many more.

Paul Rudd has also been recognized and popular for his roles in different television series. In the last seasons of the acclaimed show 'Friends', Rudd played the role of Mike Flannagan, Phoebe's one true love. The actor was also part of the Netflix science-fiction show 'Living with Yourself' (2019), for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe award; and the Apple TV series 'The Shrink Next Door' (2021), opposite Will Ferrel.

But if new generations know something about Paul Rudd is thanks to his role as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has starred in 'Ant-Man' (2015), 'Captain American: Civil War' (2016), 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' (2018), and 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019). This 2023, another MCU movie was released with him as the leading actor: 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'.

She is Cher and Dionne's worst nightmare and competes with them on being the most popular girl in high school. She is always picking on Cher.

The actress lived the most important moments of her career during the late '90s and early '00s due to the movie 'Clueless' and the subsequent series of the same name but also thanks to the film 'A Night at the Roxbury', her recurring role in 'Sabrina: The Teenage Witch', her appearance in some episodes of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' and the NBC online series 'In Gayle We Trust'.

Since then, the actress hasn't enjoyed the same success and has mainly starred in made-for-TV movies like 'Shark Swarm' (2008), 'The Dog Who Saved Christmas' (2009), and the following installments: 'The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation' (2010), and 'The Dog Who Saved the Holidays' (2012). In 2021, the actress published her memoir book 'Call Me When You Leave'.

Although they don't seem to be in the perfect relationship, Murray and Dionne are in love. After the movie was released, the actor had a main role in the TV series that was based on the movie.

His character as Murray Duvall was his acting breakthrough. After it, he continued his work in different TV shows like 'Felicity' (2000-2002), 'Scrubs' (2001-2010), and 'The exes' (2011-2015). The actor has also hosted the show 'Who Gets the Last Laugh?' (2013) and has been the voice of several characters of the Star Wars Universe in 'Robot Chicken: Star Wars' or 'Star Wars Ressistance'.

Although he has continuously worked in cinema in films like 'Skyline' or Kick-Ass 2', the actor has relished his past TV successes. In 2020, Faison and his 'Scrubs' co-star, Zach Braff, launched the podcast 'Fake Doctors, Real Friends' where they talk about their experience filming the NBC series.

He is the classic privileged and arrogant high school boy who Cher is trying to set up with Tai, without realizing he is actually more interested in her.

Although the actor has appeared in more than a dozen of films. Sisto is very well-known for his participation in the TV shows 'Six Feet Under' (2001-2005), 'Law & Order' (2008-2010), 'Suburgatory' (2011-2014), and 'Ice' (2016-2018). Since 2018, he has starred as Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Jubal Valentine, in 'FBI'.

As you may have guessed he was the heir to the Birkenstock empire, however, he was more interested in skating around and pursuing Tai's affection.

The actor had some secondary roles in various movies after 'Clueless' and landed his main role in the film adaptation of 'Garfield' (2014). Since 2005,  Meyer also does different voices for the show 'Chicken Robots' and has appeared in the television series 'Franklin & Bash' (2011-2014) and 'The Fix' (2019).

Mr. Hall is one of the teachers at Bronson Alcott High. Although a little tough in his role as the debate teacher, he is still friendly.

Apart from his role in 'Clueless', the actor is very much famous for his appearance in the '80s classic 'The Princess' Bride' and most recently for his role as Cyrus Rose in 'Gossip Girl'. Wallace Shawn has also been the voice of the character Rex in all the 'Toy Story' movies and has appeared in different Woody Allen films.
