Where did The Kelly Family go?
The Kelly Family was a European-American family band that gained worldwide fame in the '80s and '90s with songs in English, German, French, and Spanish. Hits like 'An Angel' from the album 'Over the Hump' (1994) really got the family going.
The band consisted of the Kelly siblings. In the beginning, Kelly's parents, who founded the band, also performed, but later it was just the siblings. Read here what the Kellys are doing today and how they have changed over time.

Irish father Kelly (on the right in the picture taken in 1989) was born in Michigan (USA) in 1930. In 1974, he founded a family band with 7 children and played street music with them in Europe and the USA. He was an alcoholic and died in Cologne in 2002.
Barbara-Ann was a dancer from Massachusetts and was Dan's second wife. He had eight of his thirteen children with her. After being diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with Angelo, her youngest son, she refused any treatment so as to protect her unborn child. She died in November 1982, just under a year after giving birth to Angelo.

Kathy Kelly was born in the USA. She was the musical director of the family band and played violin, accordion, guitar, and keyboard, in addition to singing.
Today she is a solo artist who performs for charities, among other things. She has a son, born in 1992, but is no longer with her husband.
Since 2017, when the family made their musical comeback, Kathy became part of the new constellation of The Kelly Family. In 2021, they appeared on several TV shows.
Barbara Ann (born in 1975 in Spain) played percussion and guitar in the family band.
In later years, she appeared only sporadically and slowly withdrew from the public. She died in Germany in the spring of 2021.

Patrick was one of the band's most popular members and a true 'girl magnet.' He has been a musical director since 1996. In addition to singing, he composes and plays guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, piano, and accordion.
At the turn of the millennium he retired as a monk in a monastery in France for six years. In 2011, he came back to the music and the stages he missed. He married the sweetheart of his youth and now appears in music and casting shows.
With his brother Patrick, Angelo was the heartthrob par excellence. With his self-composed song 'I Can't Help Myself,' the family managed to land a number 1 hit in Germany and other Northern European countries.
Today Angelo is busy with his solo career. He lives with his family (picture) in Ireland. But you could also see him as an actor in the film 'Class Reunion 1.0,'
John is the first child of Dan and his second wife, Barbara Ann. In 1980 his song 'Who'll Come with Me (David's Song)' became a number-one hit in Belgium and the Netherlands. In the band, he also took care of setting up and taking down the stage, sound check, lighting, and video clips.
Until the Kellys came back, John (pictured right) pursued joint projects with his Spanish wife Maite (soprano and producer) and lived again in Spain, where he'd been born. He earned second place on 'Dancing on Ice' in 2019 and competed in 'Let's Dance.' He is now one of the six new members of the reunited Kelly Family.
Patricia (pictured right) was born in Spain, just like John. She was responsible for the bombo, guitar, percussion, harp, and keyboards in the band. When she was 12, her mother died of cancer and she had to take care of the smaller siblings together with the older Kellys.
Today, Patricia Kelly works as a solo artist. From 2917 to 2020, she reappeared with her siblings as The Kelly Family. She has two sons and is married. Her son Iggy competed in 'The Voice Kids' in 2017.
Jimmy (pictured second from right), whose real name is James Victor Kelly, was part of the band from the beginning until 1994 and is responsible for several compositions.
In 2005 he started a solo career and toured Europe. He wrote an autobiography ('Streetkid') and gave lectures about it. He is married and has three children. Since 2017 he is part of The Kelly Family again.
Joey (pictured right) took care of the band's marketing. Along with John, he also organized everything that was needed for the stage performances. Also interesting to know is that Joey and his siblings were educated at home and never attended a public school.
Joey Kelly is now an extreme athlete and entrepreneur. In Germany, you can often see him in fun competitions, such as the Wok World Championships or the TV Total Tower Diving, among others. Joey lives in the Bonn area in Germany, is married, and has four children.
Maite is the only child in the family who was born in Germany. She was in the band as a vocalist and played bass.
In 2007, she began her solo career and is very successful in the German music scene. She also worked on film projects and was a member of the jury for 'Germany's Next Superstar.' She is separated and has three children. With her ex-husband, she runs a natural cosmetics brand and has a fashion collection.
Dan's eldest son, Danny (pictured, third from left), was never active in the band due to his mental disability. He died in the United States in 2017.
Daniel was one of the four children of Dan's first marriage.
Caroline (center, with accordion) was born in Massachusetts in 1959. From 1974 to 1982, she was an active member of the music group.
Today, Caroline Kelly works in the US as a nurse.
The Kellys had another daughter, Patricia Kelly, who died when she was just one year old.
Paul (right, next to Johnny Logan ) was the fourth and last child born to Dan and his first wife Janice. In the band, he played violin and saxophone. However, he left in 1980 to become a chef in Paris.
In addition to his job as a cook, he continued to make street music with his hurdy-gurdy. Since 2004 he has been working with his siblings on music projects again and, occasionally, he tours with them. In the picture, you can see him on the right with his instrument.
