Famous people who died in February 2025

In a short but eventful month, the entertainment industry saw highs and lows, with awards galas, music spectacles, and, sadly, celebrity deaths. Click further to remember the stars we lost in the past month.

American actor Gene Hackman, who won two Oscars for his work in 'Unforgiven' and 'The French Connection', and his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their home in New Mexico. According to media outlets such as the Daily Mail, the deaths don't seem to have been violent. The actor, who retired from acting in 2004, was 95, and his wife was  63.

American actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in the series 'Gossip Girl' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', was found dead by her mother on Wednesday, February 26, at her home in New York. According to media outlets such as The New York Post and ABC News, the case is not being investigated as a suspicious death. Michelle Trachtenberg was only 39 years old.

The famous American singer Roberta Flack, remembered for hits such as 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' and 'Killing Me Softly', died while being transferred to a hospital after suffering a heart attack in New York. In 2022, she was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and in recent years, she had been suffering from heart problems. On February 10, she turned 88.

The renowned hairstylist of the stars passed away at the age of 34. His death was sudden and unexpected, causing a great impact on the celebrities who had a close relationship with him. He was a friend of Kylie Jenner while also working for Rosalía, Jennifer López, and Demi Moore, among others. For now, the cause of his death has not been confirmed.

American actress Lynne Marie Stewart, remembered for her roles in 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', left us at age 78 after a brief illness.

U.S. Secret Service agent Clint Hill, best known for jumping onto the back of President John F. Kennedy's car after his assassination in Dallas, died at his home at age 93.

British-born Australian drummer Gordon Fleet, better known by his stage name Snowy Fleet, passed away on February 18. He will always be remembered as one of the founders of the band The Easybeats along with Stevie Wright, George Young, Harry Vanda, and Dick Diamonde.

Activist and Miss USA Kadance Fredericksen, who represented Miss Okaloosa County Teen at the Miss Florida Teen USA 2024 pageant, lost her life in a car accident that occurred three minutes from her residence in Santa Rosa County, Florida.

On February 16, a friend of South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron found her lifeless body in her home in Seoul. According to investigations, she appears to have taken her own life. Kim Sae-ron was only 24 years old.

Spanish designer and businesswoman Dolores Cortés, who revolutionized swimwear fashion in Spain, passed away at the age of 98.

Veteran French actress Geneviève Page died in Paris at the age of 97.

Also on February 14, at the age of 95, American actress Alice Hirson passed away. She is remembered for her roles in series such as 'Dallas' and 'General Hospital'.

Actor and former American football player Peter 'Navy' Tuiasosopo, who has appeared in films such as 'Fast and Furious' and 'Street Fighter', died on February 10 of a heart attack. He was 61.

American actor and singer Bob Bingham, best remembered for his role as Caiaphas in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera 'Jesus Christ Superstar', died at the age of 78.

An actor who was mostly active on screen in the 1970s and later on the stage, Tony Roberts died at the age of 85 from lung cancer. He is known, among others, as Joseph Rosetti in the 1977 series 'Rosetti and Ryan' (image, right), and for roles in movies like Woody Allen's 'Annie Hall' (1977).

After a brief illness, the English musician Mike Ratledge, remembered as the keyboardist for the group Soft Machine, passed away at the age of 81.

The Aga Khan, considered a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad and the 49th Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Shiite Muslims since July 11, 1957, died in Lisbon surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old.

British actor Brian Murphy, remembered for 1970s series such as 'Man About the House' and 'George and Mildred', passed away at the age of 92.

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu died at the age of 48 after contracting influenza on a Japan trip that led to a deadly pneumonia. Her younger sister Dee Hsu confirmed the cause of death in several public statements.

South Korean veteran actress Lee Joo-shil played a part in the world-famous series 'Squid Game' but had a long career already behind her by that time. She began acting in K-dramas in the 1960s. At age 81, she passed away from stomach cancer.
