Jamie had a funny turn on a golf course, as did his friend, Gordon Smart, who recently told this story on the BBC 'The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected' podcast.

According to National Geographic, the processionary caterpillar is an insect with hairs containing toxins that are poisonous to other living things. In 2022, the situation was classified as a plague in Spain and Portugal.

Gordon Smart said they both started to feel tingling in their left arm and hand. Their heart rate increased, so they thought it might be a heart attack and went to a nearby clinic.

When Smart was discharged, he realised that Dornan was still in hospital. The 41-year-old actor told Smart that he, too, had numbness in his limbs and was very frightened.

The attending physician sought them out a week later, asked them if they had touched any processionary caterpillars, and sent them information about them.

Gordon Smart commented that they are on the loose: "In the fields of southern Portugal, they kill dogs and cause heart attacks."

National Geographic also reported that the processionary caterpillars are covered with stinging hairs that detach and float in the air, causing allergic reactions and irritation of the ears, nose and throat.

This information about the accident in Portugal has surprised many, as it happened somewhere in 2023 and the actor had not mentioned it. Needless to say he is known to be extremely private about his personal life.

According to information shared by ABC, it all happened while they were playing golf, both were on the hotel's golf course when they began to notice the alarming symptoms.
