Elisha Cuthbert was once one of the hottest stars in Hollywood, known for her roles in '24' and 'The Girl Next Door.' Named "TV's Most Beautiful Woman," by Maximum, she seemed destined for superstardom but then seemingly vanished. Here's a look at her intriguing journey.

Cuthbert started her career in Canada on the children’s series 'Popular Mechanics for Kids' (1997-2000). She also appeared on the kids show ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ and other Canadian hits. In 2011, she won a Gemini Award for her role in ‘Lucky Girl.’ Her charm and talent quickly made her a household name in her home country.

After moving to Los Angeles at age 18, Cuthbert gained international fame as Kim Bauer, the daughter of Kiefer Sutherland's character, Jack Bauer, on the hit series '24' (2001-2010). Her role as the damsel in distress made her a fan favorite and got her nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Following 'The Girl Next Door,' Cuthbert appeared in mega blockbusters like 'Old School' (2003) and 'Love Actually' (2003). Although they were small, the roles showcased her versatility and comedic timing and made her face known across the globe.

In 2004, Cuthbert starred in 'The Girl Next Door,' playing a former adult star who moves next door to a high school senior. The film became a cult classic and cemented her status as a s e * symbol… something she would later feel haunted by.

Known for her beauty, Cuthbert later told the Daily Beast that she felt pressured by the studios to pose in bathing suit photos and take part in uncomfortable magazine shoots. "At the time, it's not like I was the only one partaking in these men's magazines - it felt like everyone was subjected to it. I remember even Halle Berry after winning her Oscar was on the [hottest] lists and the covers," she said.

Her unforgettable role on '24' also made her a natural for horror films like ‘House of Wax’ (2005), which also starred Paris Hilton. She was also in ‘Captivity’ (2007), ‘The Quiet’ (2005), the dark comedy ‘He Was a Quiet Man’ (2007), as well as a range of other movies.

Cuthbert returned to TV in the ensemble comedy 'Happy Endings' (2011-2013), playing Alex Kerkovich. The show was critically acclaimed and developed a loyal fan base but was canceled after three seasons. However, Cuthbert was ranked as Maxim's Most Beautiful actress on TV in its final year… perhaps a cold comfort.

She married NHL player Dion Phaneuf (shown) in 2013, and they have since kept a relatively low profile, living in Ottawa during the hockey season and then on the small island of Prince Edward Island in the summer. They had two kids in 2018 and 2022.

She did return to TV in 2015, starring in 'One Big Happy' for NBC, but the show was canceled after one season. Another show was also abruptly canceled - ‘The Ranch,’ a Netflix series that ran from 2016 to 2020. It involved many cast members from 'That 70s Show,' including the now-convicted s  e  * offender Danny Masterson who brought controversy to the series in its later years.

Most recently, you can see Cuthbert in the 2022 horror film ‘The Cellar,’ released via Shudder, and the 2022 Canadian film ‘Bandit.’ While she is still in the industry, she is far from the blockbusters that once got her face on the covers of all the magazines.
